“In pursuit of Positivity”
It is essential to constantly remember the power of positivity and the change it will bring to your life. You may be successful in achieving a positive outlook for a day, a week, or even a month. Then, one day you may find yourself drifting back to negativity. You must be in pursuit of positivity everyday of your life, just as you constantly pursue happiness. A daily reminder may help.
Step 1: FIND a quote about positive thinking that moves you.
Step 2: WRITE the quote down on several, colorful sticky notes.
Step 3: PLACE the reminders everywhere you spend time throughout the day. A few places to stick one include your nightstand, mirror, fridge, daily planner, a book you are reading, the back of your cellphone, your lunch bag, and on your desk at work. The sticky notes will remind you about your pursuit of positivity and help you keep this goal on your mind all the time.

“Look for the Silver Linings”
You may have heard the proverb “Every cloud has a silver lining.” Hope and optimism may lie beneath a difficulty or challenge. Try to look for the silver linings so that you are better able to overcome each difficulty, and moreover, obtain something meaningful from each experience. Practice the exercise below every time you feel down.
Step 1: WRITE down one thing that has been bringing you down lately.
Step 2: THINK about why it bothers you.
Step 3: WRITE down how this might actually have some meaningful purpose in your life or for someone else.
Example: “I care about what other people think of me. I think I care because I try very hard to be a good person, and I am disappointed to hear that people feel otherwise. This might actually have a meaningful purpose in my life. First of all, I may not completely be sure of myself. If I knew exactly who I was, then nobody else’s opinions would make me question myself, and I would not feel the need to prove myself to anyone. I must develop greater confidence, and know who I am.

“Random Acts of Kindness”
Helping others feel good will actually make you feel good too. The benevolent feelings you experience while initiating a random act of kindness may be the key. You feel compassion. You feel kindness, and you feel goodness. Negative emotions are pushed aside and empathy and friendship fill your mind. So this is the week for spreading kindness in the world. You can do a bunch of different acts throughout the week. I will help you get started.
Step 1: Write a note to a stranger. Include a compliment, or write an uplifting comment providing hope. (You get bonus points for humor)
Step 2: End the note with “Always remember to Laugh, Love, Lick Chocolate Frosting :-)”
Step 3: Leave it on a bicycle or car.
Example: “Hello. I just want to let you know that you are an amazing person, and you are facing life’s challenges beautifully. Take it one day at a time, and have hope. You will achieve your goals. Always remember to Laugh, Love, Lick Chocolate Frosting :-)”
